Sailors' Society Wilderness Challenge 2010

Sunday 26th September saw Casper Shipping’s Michael Shakesheff, Alan Appleyard and Dean Croft all take part in the 2010 Sailors’ Society Wilderness Challenge team event in Cairngorms, Scotland finishing in an impressive 8th position.
The event which was kindly sponsored by Lloyd’s Register involved a 50km mountain bike ride through the Rothiemurchus Forest, canoeing 3km over Loch Morlich, and a 10km run through the beautiful Cairngorms.


The Sailors’ Society is an international charity existing to enrich and enhance the well being of the world’s 1.2 million seafarers. They offer practical help, emotional and spiritual support and, when needed, financial assistance and family liaison through a network of Port Chaplains and Seafarers’ Centres.


Taking donations through Just Giving, Casper Shipping successfully raised over £2,100 for the Sailors’ Society, with an incredible £100000 raised by all teams and sponsors.
