Grangemouth Renaissance – 27th September 2016

Published on: 7th September 2016

Casper Shipping were delighted to attend as guests of both Ineos and Evergas the Celebration of the Grangemouth Renaissance.

The celebration included a tour of the new INEOS HQ and site including the new Ethane Storage tank (one of the key investments under the “Survival Plan”) and the KG Gas Cracker and Ethane Jetty.

The main celebration took place at the new Ethane Jetty with the arrival of the JS Ineos Insight with the first cargo of ethane from the US.

The JS Ineos Insight is one of the new “Dragon Class” vessels and a world first in design and efficiencies. The new engine design can not only use conventional diesel fuel but also low cost ethane giving both efficiency and lower emissions.

The new vessels were built in Qidong, China. The design was finalised in 2012 – the Chinese year of the dragon – and so this unique class of vessel was named “the Dragon Class”.
